PrimeBarrier Pest Control was founded on a straightforward conviction: pest control decisions should be based on evidence, not estimates — and clients deserve to understand exactly what was found, what was done, and why.
Vanguard was founded in Austin, Texas by entomologist Dr. Rachel Okafor and systems engineer Mark Reyes, who met while working on early-stage thermal imaging applications for industrial inspection. They recognized that the same technology being used to detect moisture in building envelopes could be applied to pest detection — and that doing so would fundamentally change inspection accuracy.
Starting with a single service vehicle and a FLIR camera on loan, they conducted 200 thermal inspections in their first year. Within three years, they had trained the first cohort of thermal-certified pest technicians and established a regional presence across Texas.
Today, Vanguard operates in 28 states, employs more than 340 field technicians, and has completed over 120,000 property inspections — maintaining the same documentation-first culture established in 2006.
No treatment begins without documented evidence of pest presence. We identify before we act — every time, without exception.
Every visit produces a written report. Every product has a data sheet. Every recommendation has a documented reason. You should always know what's happening on your property.
We use the least-toxic effective approach in every situation, applied only where evidence indicates it's warranted — not as a blanket precaution.
Our goal is a property that stays pest-free — not a client who keeps calling for the same problem. Prevention is always the objective, even when treatment is the immediate need.
Pest biology evolves. Resistance patterns shift. New detection technologies emerge. Vanguard technicians complete 40+ hours of continuing education annually.
If your problem can be solved with a single visit, we'll tell you. We don't recommend ongoing plans when they aren't warranted by the actual conditions of your property.
Our leadership team combines academic entomology, field operations experience, and technology development expertise. Every field technician is licensed, insured, and completes our 120-hour Vanguard Certification Program before independent service.
